A bespoke 3,600 sq ft California residence, designed around site-specific landscape engagement, considered material expression, and spatial quality that transitions fluidly between indoor and outdoor living.
The California Private Residence is a bespoke single-family residence in California, designed from first principles to respond to its specific site conditions, the lifestyle requirements of the occupants, and the architectural character of the surrounding neighbourhood. Every spatial decision was made in service of creating a home that feels simultaneously considered and effortless to inhabit.
The design organization follows a clear gradient from the more public spaces of the entry, living, and dining areas toward the private bedroom and retreat zones creating a home with strong spatial hierarchy that supports both social entertaining and private daily life without compromise.
The integration of interior and exterior environments was a primary generator of the architectural approach, with indoor living spaces opening directly to landscaped garden areas, covered outdoor living, and a considered sequence of transitional threshold spaces that blur the boundary between inside and out.
